We’ve talked about how Rally Connect addresses today’s content delivery challenges, leveraging cloud agility and efficiency to manage complex delivery requirements and automate package creation for each endpoint.
So, what does it look like for operators to work in a Rally Connect environment?
Most operators will interact with Connect using Rally Gateway pages. Those familiar with Gateways already know that they are a fantastic tool for building portals tailor-made to operators’ precise needs. Gateway pages are composed of widgets, which are views or action panels that can be customized to achieve specific tasks.
Connect introduces three new widgets to facilitate operator’s work: Deliveries List, Deliveries Detail, and Deliveries Action. The Gateway page below is comprised of all three of these.
Deliveries List widget
This widget shows a list of all Connect deliveries that have taken place. A “delivery”, in the context of Connect, is the relationship between an asset and an endpoint. You can use the comprehensive search and filter capabilities to drill down and see exactly which assets have been delivered and where. Clicking on an item in the list will populate the Deliveries Detail widget with additional information about that delivery.
Deliveries Detail widget
This widget provides all of the delivery information for an asset. Such as, license window details, where it was delivered, and its progress/status. It also displays on an interactive timeline of all the steps the asset has gone through.
Delivery Action widget
This widget shows the history of all the actions and steps that the asset has undergone in a table view. When you click on any of the delivery actions that have occurred, the widget shows you the exact files that were delivered as part of that action.
Used in conjunction with existing Gateway widgets, Delivery Action widgets form a powerful means for operators to monitor closely the delivery process for each asset, allowing them to examine at any given time the status of a delivery, to act upon errors and make adjustments whenever necessary.
For instance, the Gateway page below will allow operators to review the metadata payload sent to a specific endpoint and compare them with the source metadata.
It combines the Asset Picker, Inventory, Status and Preview widgets.
The following page will allow operators to make adjustments to the assets metadata, such as their IDs or the licensing window dates, and submit them for redelivery.
There are, of course, more possibilities users have with Gateway pages to interact with Connect, and these are just a few examples.
Behind the scenes, a collection of SDVI-managed supply chain templates are automatically executed, to build automatically, process and deliver these packages, saving tremendous implementation time and efforts for our customers.
