About the Role
As part of an internationally distributed team, you are assertive, energetic, an excellent communicator, and a highly effective collaborator. You combine commercial awareness with a strong understanding of technical processes and find both equally rewarding. You have a passion for working closely with customers to transform the way they work, and you get a kick from sharing in their ongoing success.
You are responsible for the definition, execution, evangelism, and ultimately the success of product initiatives on the SDVI Rally platform. SDVI strongly believes in the notion that the product manager is the CEO of the product, and all that entails.
You are part of a growing product management team, vital in not only defining the future of your product area but also in shaping product strategy across the company and its upcoming initiatives.
Working directly with all parts of the organization, you will manage your time in a way that drives the biggest and most important impacts for both the company and our customers. From product definition and working with engineering to define priorities, to supporting the sales effort and producing collateral for further expansion, the Product Manager is a critical, multi-faceted role.
Responsibilities
- Product Ownership
You are the one who knows what the product needs to do to meet customer and market needs. You use this knowledge to provide clear direction to engineering, ensuring requirements are fully understood and that implementation matches expectations. Your understanding of technical processes makes you an effective partner for the engineering team, and you manage the agile development process as the unequivocal product owner. - Product Strategy & Definition
You define what the product is, what it should be, and make it happen. With deep knowledge of the marketplace in which you operate, you identify trends and needs before everyone else and translate them into actionable product definitions that engineering can execute upon. You gather requirements from existing and potential customers, but you don’t just build what they say they need — you synthesize requirements to ensure the product delivers more than customers ever knew they needed. The requirements definitions and use cases you create provide compelling context for the why rather than the how. - Program Management
You keep the trains running on time. You juggle constantly changing priorities and compromises. You remove blockers and facilitate effective, efficient engineering. You manage the product roadmap and customer commitments. And critically, you decide what we don’t do. This isn’t managing the engineering team, but it is ensuring they are working on the right things at the right time. - Product Marketing & Evangelism
Building the best product in the world means nothing if nobody knows about it or uses it. While product management isn’t a traditional outbound marketing role, being able to articulate the value it brings is critical. This needs to be done in a scalable way, ensuring that materials produced are generally applicable to the sales team. To our customers, you are the voice of the product. Internally, you are the voice of the customer. Working closely with the marketing team, you produce and deliver product marketing collateral, provide thought leadership through public speaking, and become the go-to expert on all things media supply chain.
