As Rally users extend the scope of activities executed within their supply chains, they benefit from automating not just their core large-scale processes but also the many smaller steps that support them. SDVI’s automation enhancements within Rally this past quarter further reduce the need for manual intervention while giving users finer control over how their supply chains run. As automation reaches further into daily operations, Rally streamlines smaller, previously manual steps that can slow or complicate broader supply chain execution, improving efficiency and insight at every stage.
Stemming directly from customer requests — as many Rally updates do — the usability enhancements introduced in Q3 make day-to-day operations simpler, more transparent, and more efficient. This quarter’s usability enhancements demonstrate SDVI’s ongoing commitment to increasing visibility, flexibility, and efficiency across the media supply chain. With two updates to the Rally Application Services ecosystem, SDVI ensures that users can take advantage of the latest and most sophisticated functionality within provider tools.

Usability Enhancements

Asset Cost Expander: Provider Cost Breakdown
The asset cost expander available on the asset details page in Rally Core now includes a breakdown by provider type. This enables Rally users to quickly check expenditures on a single asset, compare actuals to their expectations, and identify outliers.

Gateway Page Groups Icon Configuration
Rally Gateway administrators now can configure the icons for Rally Gateway page groups. As a result,
users can more quickly orient themselves on Gateways with many different pages.

Asset List Widget: Enforce Single-Asset Selection
The Asset List widget now includes an “enforce single-asset selection” option that ensures only one file can be selected at a time. This matches the functionality already present in the Asset Picker, and it gives administrators tighter control over how the interface is used, reducing the chance of errors caused by multiple selections.
Automation Enhancements
SDVI Mover: Disable Heavy Copies
Rally supply chain engineers now can disable heavy copies in their SDVI Mover presets. Heavy copies occur when a transfer must move data through the SDVI Mover instance because a light indirect copy is not possible. While this may occur by design, it also can indicate a misconfiguration in roles or access to storage credentials — and possibly incur unwanted egress charges.
With heavy copies disabled, jobs error when a light copy is not possible. This approach alerts operators that the underlying configuration needs attention before proceeding, and it also can be helpful in preventing other problems that may result from heavy copies.
Decision Engine: Provider Filter for Fail Step
In the Decision Engine, supply chain engineers now can add a provider filter to the fail step of a sequence. Fail steps run when the preceding job in a supply chain fails. Rally users now can add a provider filter to a fail step so that the supply chain job is re-routed to a specific software version or cloud region, for example. Automatic adjustment of the supply chain if an asset encounters issues translates to greater flexibility and faster recovery of jobs within intelligent supply chains.
Decision Engine: Partial Updates to Supply Chain Metadata
The Decision Engine framework now supports partial updates to supply chain metadata, mirroring existing functionality for asset metadata. Rather than overwrite an entire metadata record, users can update only a specific field — such as a title or status value — without disturbing other fields. This capability enables more direct manipulation of metadata and reduces interference when multiple supply chains run on the same asset.
Support for BCC When Sending Emails
A BCC field is now an option when sending email notifications from Rally, allowing for cleaner distribution of alerts and status updates — particularly useful for organizations that prefer to manage individual recipients rather than centralized distribution lists. Support for BCC can be configured as part of the notification preset and used directly in the Decision Engine preset.
API Support for Job Artifacts
Rally APIs now provide access to job artifacts such as error messages or Decision Engine outputs.
This means users can integrate Rally error data directly into their own monitoring or ticketing systems, streamlining troubleshooting and eliminating the need to navigate through the Rally UI manually.
Application Services Updates
Interra BATON Captions
SDVI has added BATON Captions as a provider within the Rally Application Services ecosystem. Supported functionality includes extensive captions QC capabilities.
Telestream’s Vantage Cloud Port: S3 URL Support
Previously, Rally’s Telestream Vantage Cloud Port provider supported only pre-signed URLs generated by Rally during runtime. Now, if Rally users have their own Cloud Port account configured with direct access to their S3 storage, they can use the S3 URL directly. Enabling longer-running tasks without the risk of a pre-signed URL expiring, this update improves reliability for extended jobs.
