And, once again, the event served up excellent discussions and thought-provoking perspectives – not to mention really valuable networking. Over two days, the industry heard from 30 speakers on topics ranging from LLM as a revenue stream to the interconnections between organizations in the supply chain.
What was the big takeaway? While the conversation used to be about how the modern media supply chain would change the way we do business, these days we can see that the demands of the business are changing the supply chain.
DPP CEO Rowan de Pomerai compiled a summary report of all the sessions and key takeaways from those two days, and we’re pleased to share it with you.
Across our industry, many media organizations persist in treating all assets as though they are the same: equally important and equally valuable. If all you have is a hammer, you might be forgiven for thinking everything’s a nail. But is a tentpole series really the same as a syndicated gameshow?
No. And it shouldn’t be treated as such. Nor should an early morning rerun be treated like a hit movie. Instead, content should be tiered so that its economic value aligns with the type and cost of tool used to process it.
When organizations tie their business systems to their supply chain and allow those systems to describe each asset to the supply chain, then the supply chain can put assets through processes that are commensurate with the returns expected.
As media organizations embrace cloud-enabled media supply chains, they realize that not every asset needs to be — or should be — handled the same way. Knowing that the 80/20 rule applies, with 20% of content driving 80% of viewership (and revenue), they are pivoting to build supply chains that align the work performed and tools used with the value of each asset.
