When Rally is your main media processing hub, it acquires, QCs, modifies, prepares, archives and/or distributes your media. It offers tools from a broad array of vendors through the Application Services Market giving users flexibility to experiment, iterate and evolve their media supply chains. But Rally also integrates with other systems and services in the M&E universe outside of it’s own ecosystem where data exchange is not just helpful, but necessary. How exactly does it work?
It’s actually quite easy…
Rally makes data exchange simple, allowing users to quickly and efficiently integrate systems upstream, downstream and parallel to the Rally supply chain. Take business management systems, for example: those systems used to coordinate acquisition and distribution of assets are easily integrated with Rally. The upstream system administrators can choose their preferred path to integrate with Rally, whether via the Rally API, the business system API, SQS/SNS notifications, file-based interactions or any combination thereof.
Going one step further, Rally is truly “metadata structure agnostic”, meaning it does not enforce a metadata schema. Rally customers can choose and define the core data structure that best suits their purpose without worry that any Rally functionality will be impacted. Rally can easily acquire and manipulate almost any input data format in each data exchange; data stored in BXF, cablelabs, csv, JSON, movielabs, XML (or JSON encoded XML!) formats can be used as the basis for input data.
When the input data structure is acquired, Rally stores, assimilates and reacts to the input data. The acquired data information can be used to make automated supply chain decisions based on factors like:
- Where the content is coming from
- What data needs to be added
- Whether QC and AI augmentation is required
- Where the content is going
Once the supply chain run is complete, Rally can then be used to create new outbound datasets along with packaged media for use with parallel and downstream systems – all in the varying formats those individual parallel and downstream systems need.
