Our Top Solutions That Are Most Meaningful to Rally Users

As we head into IBC and think about what we will hear from customers – their challenges and their ambitions for their supply chain operations – we asked our Technical Solutions team to tell us which Rally-powered solutions, in their experience, had the biggest impact on users.

Flexibility with Providers

– Alex P

When building a Rally media supply chain, you’re not locked into a single tool for each task – you have the freedom to choose the best tool for the job. The Rally Application Services Market offers a wide range of third-party integrations, allowing users to tailor their workflows to the specific uses cases. Different parts of a supply chain may call for different tools, whether due to complexity, content type, or simply the preference of the operator or engineer. Whether those are transcoders, QC, or AI tools, Rally users can spin tools up or down as needed without rebuilding the supply chain from scratch.

And that flexibility doesn’t end once a supply chain is built. Users can swap tools, add new capabilities, or adjust processes. Rally users are empowered to continually iterate and optimize, adapt and personalize to achieve the best possible outcome.

Languaging & Localization

– Ryan E

Today’s media ecosystem is global, and the high volume and velocity of content distributed across platforms and regions requires scalable, efficient language adaptation and localization. Rally helps media organizations streamline and optimize complex localization workflows by providing intelligent orchestration and automation of key processes, such as transcription, translation, subtitling, and audio dubbing.

By routing assets to the right tools and providers based on a combination of business rules, language requirements, and turnaround time, then combining with automated QC providers in Rally Application Services, Rally can deliver full visibility, flexibility, and operational efficiency across the entire localization pipeline, all from a single platform.

Business System Integrations

– Richard

Integration with Rally can maximize the efficiency of other business systems in the supply chain that are purpose-designed for specific functions, such as traffic, sales and billing, and order management.

When Rally users incorporate their existing business logic into Rally workflows, they can leverage the best features each system has to offer.  Ease and speed of integration are key: with connection options like APIs or AWS SNS, integration is fast and flexible.

Additionally, Rally users aren’t confined to templated solutions or products supported by those systems. Users can instead use a customizable Rally interface or employ Rally as the back-end processing engine. Organizations have a more seamless integration experience because user training time is reduced and user acceptance increases.

Ad Break Detection

– Jeremy

Rally users can now automate the search for ad break opportunities in content by leveraging Vionlabs’ AI-based detection in their supply chains.  This solution, available as a Rally Application Service, means operators no longer need to do a complete manual content review to find ad breaks. Instead, they can spot-check the ad breaks curated by Vionlabs.

Vionlabs uses two deep learning models and one core algorithm, each contributing to the overall ad break detection logic:

  • Scene boundary detection classifies each shot break and determines whether it also signifies a scene change.
  • An ad break model analyses the story-flow and storyline of video segments and identifies potential ad breaks within those segments.
  • The core algorithm compares incoming shots to the most recent ones, using color distribution and histograms to detect significant visual changes.

Black frame detection and speech detection are used to enhance the selection process. A ranking system for the detected breaks allows users to make automatic or manual decisions on where to place ad breaks.

Cloud Editing

– Justin

Editing is a critical task in most media workflows, and Rally makes it easier for teams by bringing editing tools directly into their browsers. These edits can range from simple tasks like trimming tops and tails to more complex edits such as adding effects. Rally Access provides all the tools needed to accomplish editing tasks with support for Accurate.Video Edit and Adobe Premiere Pro.

Accurate.Video Edit is a browser-based video editor launched from a Rally Gateway workorder. The timeline is easy-to-navigate, providing shortcuts to trim media at the desired points, add black frames in-between segments, and more. It can support multiple video files in the bin so that extra content, like promotional material, can quickly be added to the timeline.

For deeper editing, Adobe Premiere Pro can be used with a fully-integrated Rally Access Panel in the editor, either in traditional on-prem machines or in the operator’s browser using Rally Access Workstation, a fully-managed cloud instance spun up on demand with all of the media ready to go on the timeline. Rally integration with AirFrame from Media-Anywhere means operators can edit against full, high-resolution media directly in cloud storage with no bulky transfers or costly egress.

Asset Hierarchies

– Aditya

Rally’s Asset Hierarchies transforms the management and navigation of content libraries. Assets are organized locally in intuitive, folder-like structures that mirror the real-world content relationships. Whether organizing content by show/ season/ episode or managing multiple revisions of an asset with primary and secondary versions, the hierarchy system helps media teams locate and visualize instantly any piece of content within complex production. This system scales with growing content libraries, ensuring that expansion doesn’t lead to inefficiency. Teams can drill down from broad categories to specific assets with ease, reducing search time and ensuring that related content stays logically grouped together.

The hierarchy is flexible enough to support multiple organizational views at once, such as revision tracking as well as traditional episodic structures. With features like primary asset designation and promotion capabilities, teams maintain control over versioning while preserving the ability to quickly locate and access any iteration of their media assets. This flexibility ensures that as content strategies evolve, the organizational structure can adapt without disrupting established workflows.
