Newest Rally Updates Ease Management of Complex Workflows

As more Rally users extend their deployment of the platform beyond automated media processing to include embedded manual operations, usability across these operations becomes even more essential. In Q2 of 2025, SDVI delivered a slate of Rally updates focused on simplifying daily interactions for engineers building supply chains, as well as for operators working across increasingly complex environments.

Many of the latest usability enhancements reflect the needs of long-time, large-scale Rally users: sorting API tokens, grouping Gateway pages, curating work order options, or previewing PDFs in the Access panel. Updates to the Rally Decision Engine and metadata APIs further empower engineering teams to automate intelligently and adapt to change quickly.

The Rally Application Services ecosystem continues to expand, with new provider integrations and deeper functionality across several existing services. With these updates, the Rally platform further streamlines modern content preparation.

Usability Enhancements

Gateway Page Grouping

Rally Gateway administrators can now group Gateway pages, first creating groups and then adding Gateway pages to them. Groups are shown at the top of the list and can be reordered. Pages that are not part of a group are shown below the groups. This update simplifies management and browsing when Rally users need to address a large variety of use cases within a single Gateway. This Gateway page grouping enhancement guides Gateway users to the right areas, preventing overwhelm.

Scheduled Usage Report UI

Rally users can now configure scheduled usage reports directly in the Rally UI. Previously, users could configure these reports only in the back end. Now, they can configure Rally to drop usage data periodically for both job usage and asset usage into a Rally storage location, thereby implementing their own data lakes and enabling detailed data analytics.

Work Order Group Curation

The Work Order widget in Rally Gateway allows users to assign work orders to a group. For permissions purposes, Rally systems sometimes store a large number of groups. But not all those groups should be assignable within the Work Order widget, as navigating the long list can be cumbersome and make it easier to assign work orders to the wrong group by accident. Work Order group curation simplifies the experience for Gateway users because Rally administrators now can configure which groups are shown in the assign dialog for work orders within a Work Order widget.

Sort API Tokens Pages by Creation Date

API tokens can now be sorted by creation date, allowing for faster access to newly created or old API tokens. This Rally enhancement eases API token management and clean-up.

Insight: Expand Chart Widget to Full Screen

Rally Insight widgets can now be viewed in full screen with a press of a button. When charts include extensive detail, users can view more detail without the chart using too much screen real estate. As a result, a single page can display many more visualizations.

PDF Files Preview in the Access Panel

PDF files can now be previewed from within the Access panel, allowing operators to look at QC reports or other PDF files without downloading them to their computer. As a result, it’s easier for QC operators to look at details only present in the report PDF and for editors to look at scripts, cut lists, and other useful information stored in PDF within the asset.

Efficiency Enhancements

JSON Store APIs

APIs for storing and manipulating JSON forms and lists are now available. Allowing Rally users to programmatically push updates to their metadata management structure and deploy changes to different systems automatically, this update dramatically accelerates updates and deployments.

Decision Engine: “reply-to” Support for Email Notifications

While configuring a reply-to address for email notifications was possible in the notification presets, Rally engineers wanting to send email notifications using Decision Engine without the use of a preset couldn’t set this field. With this new Rally update, Rally engineers can now specify the reply-to email when sending emails.

Decision Engine: Add Retry Count to Context

The retry count of the current job is now available in the Decision Engine context, thereby aiding supply chain engineers in building more efficient and complex automated logic around error paths and failures within the supply chain.

Expand Contents of Work Order Notifications

The email notification that Rally sends when a work order has been reassigned now includes a link to the work order asset. This additional information allows operators to navigate quickly to Rally to see more details or take action.

Allow Regex in Search Index Deny List

While the practice is discouraged — because it dramatically increases the number of metadata field names — Rally users do sometimes use unique keys in metadata as field names. Until now, it has not been possible to exclude these keys from the indexing mechanism if they are stored at the top level of the metadata. Rally users have had to use allow lists instead. Thanks to Q2 updates, however, Rally administrators can now configure regular expression to ignore those keys when data is indexed by OpenSearch, enabling continued operation and searches in such use cases without the use of an allow list.

Application Services Updates

Vionlabs Provider

Rally users can now work with the Vionlabs Discovery platform, which supports metadata enrichment, ad break detection, and more.

MediaKind Atlas Provider

Rally now supports MediaKind Atlas as part of the Application Services ecosystem. Atlas OnDemand primarily focuses on transcoding, packaging, and encryption for VOD workflows.

Retrieve PDF Report From Telestream Cloud – Qualify jobs

Rally now fetches the PDF report from Telestream Cloud – Qualify jobs when using Qualify directly, allowing Rally users to also view the report information in the native PDF form, as well as in Rally Access.

Hybrik Results JSON Support

When using Hybrik from Dolby to analyze media, Rally now includes the results JSON in the jobs response, allowing Rally engineers to store the info with the asset and use it later in supply chains to enable automated decision-making.

MediaConvert Support for “UpconvertSTLToTeletext” Parameter

Within the Rally Application Services ecosystem, AWS Elemental MediaConvert has been updated to support STL-to-Teletext conversion.
