What’s New for IBC 2023
We’re dusting off our bicycle shoes in preparation for IBC 2023. There are a lot of new developments to talk about this year in our stand in Hall 5 (5.H76)…
Rally Platform Updates
Over the past year, we’ve been busy innovating our Rally platform, adding more than 140 new features and capabilities, including support for 4K, HDR, and IMF, and new delivery rules governing pacing, concurrency, and “wait-until” settings to match destination requirements. Rally also supports new asset hierarchies, enabling support for MovieLabs 2030 Vision and its Ontology for Media Creation and/or any other ontology that an organization wishes to use. Stop by our stand to learn more about all the enhancements we’ve made to the platform.
Supply Chain Accelerator
In partnership with TMT Insights, we’ve put together a new solution to help media companies achieve faster time-to-production for their media supply chain optimization. With the Supply Chain Accelerator, companies can fast-track the migration of their media operations to a modern, cloud-based model by combining pre-configured versions of the Rally platform and the TMT Insights Polaris operational management platform along with supporting professional services. If this sounds like the solution you’ve been waiting for, talk to us at the show.
And don’t forget to see a collaborative supply chain demo at the AWS stand 5.C90. We’re proud to be the official supply chain and business logic platform for AWS at the show. Our partnership with AWS underscores the scalability, resilience, and agility modern media enterprises experience when they operate on a cloud-native media supply chain platform.

Supply Chain Thinking:
The Ultimate Optimization: When 2+2=5 (or even more!)
Geoff Stedman, CMO
The value of a platform approach is greater than the sum of the parts.
Many people have the idea that they can simply lift their applications and workloads to the cloud and magically realize newfound value. Until they do just that and the value doesn’t seem to be there.
The essence of media supply chain optimization is about realizing agility, efficiency, and intelligence. But to achieve those benefits, what exactly should you be optimizing?
You need to consider not just what to migrate to the cloud, but how to get the most out of the new infrastructure you’re using. Think holistically about everything that you’ve been doing, and figure out how to do it all more efficiently. Consider your workflows, your applications, the technical infrastructure needed to support your workloads, the manual steps that can be replaced and those that must become more productive, and much more.
Are you getting what you expected when you moved your applications and media workflows to the cloud? Have you encountered more friction than you anticipated? Perhaps the process sounded straightforward, but now your applications aren’t exactly taking advantage of the cloud the way you hoped they would?
If so, a platform approach can make all the difference in ensuring the cloud delivers on your expectations.
From Our Technical Solutions Team:
Adding a Third-party Provider in Your Silo
Rémi Ta, Solutions Architect
Whether you are missing your favorite QC tool or want to try out a specific transcoding application, we’ve got you covered. Thanks to the flexibility of the Rally environment, you can easily request new third-party providers be added to your silo.
If the application is not available in our Market yet, two other options can be considered. Either:
- Our Product team will explore the feasibility to have the application integrated in Rally and plan the development in our roadmap.
- Or, if applicable (especially for SaaS providers), you may also develop the integration yourself by implementing a “User Defined Connector” (or “UDC”): similar to Decision Engine, the UDC will allow you to code in Python a connector with a third-party provider, with the benefit of additional features to report job progress in Rally and to manage input and output files from the asset inventory.
Want to discuss adding a new provider in your Rally environment? Don’t hesitate to reach out to your Solutions Team.
New in Rally
Rally Insight Data Visualization Service
Looking for greater visibility into your supply chain’s performance? Want to start 2024 knowing where you can make the most impact in your supply chain? Or just been interested in Rally Insight and ready to get started?
We’re encouraging Rally customers to explore the benefits of the platform’s data and analytics service, now available at a special discounted price through the end of 2023.
If you’re already a Rally user, your Rally platform has been collecting supply chain data since it was first turned on. With Rally Insight, you can visualize all of that data to extract intelligence about your operations and find new opportunities for further optimization:
- Out-of-the-box dashboards provide fast and easy reporting.
- Customizable charting enables users to view data by show, season, project, or any other custom metadata field.
- Rich graphical dashboards organize enormous amounts of data, helping your operators analyze how well their infrastructure is being used and identify further opportunities for optimization.

Application Spotlight
Ooona QC
Rally users have enjoyed access to Ooona Convert, an API which allows for conversion of caption and subtitle files to a wide range of formats. Now users can also leverage Ooona QC to check caption and subtitle files quickly and accurately at the point of ingest, during post-production and prior to delivery.
Ooona QC performs critical checks and generates a text-based report which can be stored for reference or sent to a client along with the file – useful in ingest and dispatch suites where time is at a premium and for post-production staff who can be alerted to critical information requiring their attention.
