Accelerate Your Cloud Migration
Three years ago, SDVI and TMT Insights formed a partnership with a shared goal: Accelerate media companies’ cloud migration journey.
Pairing the SDVI Rally media supply chain platform with the architectural and system deployment expertise of TMT, media companies have access to the leading cloud-based media supply chain platform combined with the expert resources needed to implement business and technical transformation.
Leveraging our experience supporting multiple media organizations’ shift to modern, cloud-based operations, we jointly created the Supply Chain Accelerator to fast track time-to-production, focusing all the power and functionality of SDVI Rally and TMT Insights Polaris, with supporting professional services from TMT, to deliver a set of specific supply chains, right out of the box.
Supply Chain Thinking:
The Right Time to Move to the Cloud? Now.

Geoff Stedman, CMO
A funny thing happened on the way to IBC this year.
For years, we’ve met many media companies and public service broadcasters who have been skeptical about the cloud. They understand the need to modernize their supply chains, but fear of the unknown has held them back from embarking on the cloud journey. We’ve spent countless meetings evangelizing and educating our visitors on why moving their media supply chains to the cloud makes good sense. We point to multiple examples of the value that other media companies have realized from cloud-based media supply chains, and yet, for some it’s never been right for them. Until now.
This year was different. Very different.
For starters, every meeting had a different perspective. Organizations that had previously put off serious discussions about moving to the cloud were now actively engaged in how to best approach such a migration. The conversations focused on use cases, cloud-native applications, and how to best start. No longer was the cloud topic that far-off thing that we might get to someday. It was real, immediate, and an imperative that must be addressed now. The question of the cloud is no longer a question of “if”, and it’s also no longer even a question of “when”; it’s a question of “how”!
This simple but profound shift in perspective made this year’s IBC Show one of the most productive events we’ve seen in a long time. Projects felt real. Teams were assigned. Money was budgeted. Schedules were being written. The time is now.
But why? What caused this shift in mindset? Read our take on the reasons for this change in the SDVI blog.
From Our Technical Solutions Team:
Using Rally Access and Accurate.Video Validate to Maximize Manual QC Efficiency

Justin Bracegirdle, Technical Account Manager

Accurate.Video Validate frame-accurately plays out media files, including support for multiple discrete audio and captions files. TBMD is imported as markers, conveniently displayed in both timeline and table views that can be categorized for faster identification. The timeline view allows for quick visual reference of markers’ relation to the media. Clicking on a marker takes the operator to the exact timecode requiring attention. The table view allows operators to quickly filter down or search exactly for the markers of interest: further efficiency.
Need to create your own markers? No problem: Accurate.Video Validate allows users to create their own markers with simple controls and customizable metadata options. Need to edit the metadata itself? Also no problem. Validate allows operators the freedom to import and ability to edit metadata. All of this (and more) from the convenience and comfort of your browser.

New in Rally
Even More Job Scheduling Enhancements
After adding concurrency and pacing tags earlier this year, the Rally platform’s supply chain execution engine has been enhanced even further: in addition to scheduling supply chains, users can also now schedule supply chain jobs while still awaiting the arrival of files.
- Rally engineers can now schedule a job in a supply chain to run at a later time. Different from scheduled supply chains, scheduled jobs run and visualize within the same supply chain, creating a queued job right away. With the ability to schedule file deliveries up to 93 days in the future, Rally users can deliver an asset to hundreds of endpoints via a single supply chain.
- In Decision Engine, users can now submit a job that will not run until specified inventory items exist in the asset itself. The supply chain can wait up to 10 days for a future file to arrive. This new capability allows supply chain engineers to schedule deliveries while still waiting on a subtitle file or audio dub to arrive.

Application Spotlight

Accurate.Video Validate
Like the flexibility of working on QC jobs in a web browser? Rally operators can select tasks and open them using Accurate.Video Validate (integrated into the Rally Gateway portal) without ever leaving the browser.
All segment, QC, and ML metadata are presented in an interface that is easy to understand and operate. Validate all incoming metadata and add additional metadata as needed to complete the task at hand. Work on proxy media, including additional audio and subtitles from within the browser. Once the workorder is completed in Accurate.Video Validate, Rally allows the content to continue seamlessly through the supply chain, validating the metadata produced in the session and intelligently deciding the next steps necessary to complete the process.
