Solving the Ad Break Math Problem
When an ad break happens at the optimal time, churn can drop by up to 46%.
The challenge is holding that bar at scale: if hand-segmenting a single piece of content takes an hour, then the workload grows faster than the team supporting it.
SDVI, Vionlabs, and Codemill teamed up to solve for volume and quality at once. In this joint solution, AI identifies ad break candidates in minutes and hands those candidates to a human operator for review and approval, all within the media supply chain. Everything is automated except the judgment call that protects the viewer experience.
Watch the webinar, then come talk to us at IBC2026. All three companies will be at the show to demo this solution.
Supply Chain Thinking
From Cost Center to Opportunity Engine: AI’s Next Impact on Media Operations

Geoff Stedman, Chief Marketing Officer
We’re only a few weeks from IBC, where AI will be one of the most visible themes on the show floor. But beyond task-level automation lies a bigger question: what happens when AI starts operating not just within individual tasks, but across the whole media supply chain?
One shift already taking shape is a move from input-driven to outcome-driven operations. Instead of scripting every step, teams specify the result they need and AI assembles the supply chain to deliver it — provisioning only what’s required, then releasing it once the job is done. Applied to something like a new distribution deal, that means AI can read the agreement, identify territories and languages, and build the supply chain needed to fulfill it end to end.
It also reframes operations from a cost center into a business enabler. Using AI to cross-reference audience behavior, rights, and library content can surface revenue opportunities that would otherwise stay hidden, like a title already in the archive that can earn meaningful revenue with a new language version.
Read the full blog discussing what this shift could mean for your own operations, or stop by SDVI stand 5.F88 at IBC to compare notes in person.
From Our Technical Solutions Team:
More Builders, Fewer Bottlenecks

Brian Pelletier, VP of Technical Solutions
The planning behind the next generation of Rally was not about what was broken. It was about what could be better.
Two pillars drove the development of next-gen Rally: simplicity, so more of your own team can build and change supply chains without routing every request through one central group, and agentic AI support, because the next few years of media operations will be shaped by what AI agents can read, reason about, and act on.
A single design choice ties these pillars together: a supply chain is now structured text, and the graphical builder is a live rendering of that text. That single change means the platform can accommodate more builders while remaining legible to an agent, without splitting into two products. Supply chain definitions can now become outcome-based — your team declares the result it needs rather than scripting the procedure — while the custom integrations only your engineers can build become documented, reusable building blocks the rest of the team can pick up and use.
None of this replaces what you run today: it extends it, positioning the supply chains your team already trusts to work with the automation arriving next.
In the blog, we discuss the impact the next-gen Rally will have on the way your team contributes to supply chain operations, and Chief Product Officer Chris Brähler walks you through a brief demo.
New in Rally
Preview Player Upgrades
SDVI made several updates to the Rally preview player in Q2. Reviewers can now place timeline markers to flag specific moments on the asset timeline and jump directly to them.
Caption and subtitle support expanded to include IMSC and TTML formats, with color and placement, in addition to existing SRT and SCC support.
In work order mode, teams can now configure which audio channels are enabled and set whether main or sidecar audio plays by default, rather than defaulting to a fixed 7.1 layout. J-K-L navigation hotkeys, standard in professional editing tools, were also added for scrubbing during review.
These are just a few of the recent updates made to the Rally platform. Read more in our latest Rally Updates blog.
Declarative Supply Chain Definitions
Supply chains are now defined declaratively, separating control from data — making them easier to version, audit, share, and reuse, with support for nested subchains.
Supply Chain Functions
A new modular functions layer brings reusable building blocks for common supply chain tasks — prebuilt by SDVI, or your own.
Supply Chain Rewind
Operators can now step back through supply chain execution during a live run — a powerful new tool for failure analysis and root cause investigation.

Agentic AI Interface
A new MCP (Model Context Protocol) server lets external AI systems query Rally, trigger supply chain execution, and — because Rally supply chains are human-readable — even author supply chain definitions directly.

Partner Spotlight

When it comes to piracy and unauthorized redistribution, you can’t act on what you can’t find. Vobile’s VDNA (Video DNA) technology fingerprints video content so it can be identified again later, even after it’s been edited, recut, reformatted, or compressed, and matches it against Vobile’s global VDNA database with twenty-four-hour automated monitoring. The technology is ranked first in the Motion Picture Association’s video content identification evaluation, and earned a Technology & Engineering Emmy® Award. With the VDNAGen provider in the SDVI Application Services Market, Rally users can generate Vobile VDNA fingerprints directly within a supply chain job, folding content protection into the same workflow that prepares and delivers the asset.
